# Create a Manifold for your Template

Create a target manifold for your template to be used in the Shape Editor transfer

# Step by Step Guide

## Download Didimo's Manifold

Download Shape Editor default manifold. [Download](https://public.didimo.co/packages/popul8/generic/default_se_manifold-1.0.zip).

## Create Wrap using Faceform Wrap

### Start Faceform Wrap

Ensure you have an `.obj` of your base model.

In this guide, we will explain how to use the [Faceform Wrap Software](https://faceform.com/). Please note that alternative tools are also available, such as Faceform ZWrap for ZBrush or MeshMatch for Maya.

To get started, download and Install [Faceform Wrap Software](https://faceform.com/download-wrap/) . If you're not familiar with *Faceform Wrap pipeline*, additional documentation is available [here](https://www.russian3dscanner.com/wrap-tutorials/).

### Import the Base and Target Models

1. In the **Graph** area, right-click and select **Load/Save** > **LoadGeom**.
2. Add two **LoadGeom** nodes - One for *default\_se\_manifold.obj* and another one for your target model.
3. Import the previously downloaded [default\_se\_manifold](https://public.didimo.co/packages/popul8/generic/default_se_manifold-1.0.zip) (base) and your *New Template* (target topology) into their respective nodes.

### Align Models

To ensure both models are properly aligned:

1. In the **Graph** area, right-click and select **Selection** > **SelectPointPairs**.
2. Then, right-click again and choose **Alignment** > **RigidAlignment**
3. Connect the nodes as shown in the image below and in the **RigidAlignment** node, ensure all options are selected.

4. Click on the **SelectPointPairs** node and, in the **VisualEditor** view, define corresponding point pairs between the two models. You don’t need to add too many, just enough to establish proper alignment.

  A minimum of 3 `selectionPointPairs` is required to proceed. However, if the results are not sufficiently accurate, you may add additional pairs to improve alignment and overall precision.
</Callout>

### Generating the Wrap

To generate the wrap between your base and target models, follow the steps below to add required nodes to the **Graph** area:

1. Right-click and select **Selection** > **SelectPointPairs**.
2. Right-click again and choose **Alignment** > **Wrapping**.
3. Right-click once more and select **Load/Save** > **SaveGeom**.
4. Connect the nodes as shown in the reference image.

5. **Select Point pairs**, click on the **SelectPointPairs** node and, in the **VisualEditor**, define corresponding point pairs between the source and target models.

<Image align="center" border={false} width="600px" src="https://files.readme.io/8c3fc04040cda75c472788510cbb48bb8f173b62d46b00f8b08249f78fe471ed-2025-07-18_12_40_28-Clipboard.png" />

6. **Compute Wrap**, after defining your point pairs, select the **Wrapping** node and press **Compute** and wait for the wrapping process to complete.

<Image align="center" border={false} width="600px" src="https://files.readme.io/0164f966fd08ab5898d157bba32dfd8f62a4ab57b35c9e7ac37f8a6a089ba280-2025-07-18_12_42_11-Clipboard.png" />

7. Export the Wrapped Geometry
   1. Select the **SaveGeom** node.
   2. Set the export path and make sure the **Save Normals** option is enabled.
   3. Click **Compute Current Frame** to export the wrapped model.

<Image align="center" border={false} width="600px" src="https://files.readme.io/ba243526aad58b10badeb0ad8ac6779296b94ecafcfafb8d6734dc6e391a264c-2025-07-18_12_44_10-Clipboard.png" />

## Convert to FBX

1. **Convert to FBX using [Blender](https://www.blender.org)** (Please note that alternative tools are also available).

   1. Open Blender and navigate to **File > Import > Wavefront (.obj)** to import the .obj file previously saved.
   2. Once imported, you might need to downscale your model to 0.01

   <Image align="center" border={false} width="700px" src="https://files.readme.io/a8beed700e81f0d34e00d277e5f962ab803c8aa2c5bd682f8ae35b571c2916de-Screenshot_2025-07-10_at_19.44.02.png" />

   iii. Then **File > Export > FBX (.fbx)**

Now you are ready to create a [Shape Editor](https://developer.didimo.co/docs/shape-editor).
